Malaysian Hospitality At Its Finest
Nowadays, no one needs an excuse to go traveling but for the sake of it, allow us to add another reason to that list. Now more than ever before, medical tourism is coming into its own with people conveniently taking to International seas to seek affordable healthcare facilities and medical treatments abroad. Malaysia Healthcare recently invited us to hop on a quick plane ride to Kuala Lumpur to see for ourselves some of the clinical sights and sounds that Malaysia has to offer.
Upon arrival at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport, we were whisked off our feet and given the round tour of Malaysia Healthcare’s end-to-end services where health travellers are personally greeted and escorted from disembarkation through visa and customs clearance and luggage collection to the Malaysia Healthcare Concierge and Lounge where they can wait for their transport at the parking terminal entrance located nearby.
After settling down in our cushy accommodations at Pullman Hotel Kuala Lumpur City Centre, we were granted a one-on-one discussion with the CEO of Malaysia Healthcare Travel Council, Sherene Azli, as
she personally walked us through the essence of MHTC and their future endeavours.
“We want communities to understand that Malaysia Healthcare offers more than medical treatment,” Sherene Azli said. “We offer a seamless end-to-end healthcare journey experience, putting thought into the needs of patients at their most vulnerable moments. It is that Malaysian hospitality we invest in, and the trust of healthcare travellers that we reap.”
The welcoming dinner, held at the Living Space Lounge in Pullman Hotel KLCC, was even more enlightening as an international patient from Indonesia shared his personal account of undergoing treatment under Malaysia Healthcare after his recent cancer diagnosis. Overcome with emotion and sincerity coursing through this voice, he expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the council who had been by his side throughout his medical journey.
The next morning, our team set out bright and early to our allocated medical institution, Thomson Hospital Kota Damansara, which had recently undergone a thorough rebranding in order to further promote their standing as a leading IVF centre in Malaysia. While the hospital is currently going through extensive renovation until 2020 in order to expand their facilities and accommodate their evergrowing number of patients, both international and local, we were privileged to be given an in-depth run-through of their current building.
While taking care of our bodies holistically should be a priority, Prof Muhaya Eye & LASIK Centre proves that a closer look at key organs within our bodies should be just as important. Stepping into the eye clinic that is best known for its corneal refractive surgeries RELEX-SMILE and FEMTOLASIK since 2014, their slogan stands out, warmly inviting patients to “correct your sight and improve your vision in life”. Co-founder and CEO Addaem Chandran shares that the centre has attended to over 12,000 local and foreign patients with more than
14,000 successful procedures performed. While their services cover comprehensive matters of the eye, most patients flock to their expert ophthalmologists for the RELEX-SMILE & LASIK treatments. Advanced prescriptions garnered from decades of unfettered eye strain can be reversed in a matter of 23 seconds with minimal, fussfree aftercare, reminding us that medical technology nowadays is nothing short of amazing.
But while technology has progressed medicinal practices by leaps and bounds, GHHS Healthcare and Chinese Medical Centre thrives on health restoration via a combination of Western preventive healthcare and traditional treatments. Located within the luxurious 5-star Palace of the Golden Horses resort, its Wellness Centre provides Asian therapeutic remedies while GHHS Healthcare provides guests with in-depth screenings to put their minds at ease. Aside from detecting early signs of heart diseases and cancer, the latter also provides an array of non-invasive treatments for scoliosis, fertility, stroke patients and endoscopic tests. Needless to say, if you’re looking for a rejuvenating vacation that looks after you, this lush health destination has your name on it.
During our trip we not only experienced firsthand the effortless comfort of a seamless healthcare journey, we were also privileged to enjoy the largest and finest of Kuala Lumpur’s major attractions, historical sites and famous landmarks atop an open deck double decker tour bus during a KL Hop-on Hop-off tour hosted by Hop On Holidays Sdn Bhd. With such a complete and holistic healthcare travel experience to offer anyone and everyone, Malaysia Healthcare is looking forward to inviting more healthcare travellers to visit their shores next year in conjunction with the Malaysia Year of Healthcare Travel 2020. It will be quite an exciting experience especially for those who need a stepping stone towards a healthier lifestyle. A hearty thank you to Malaysia Healthcare for inviting us and being such accommodating hosts on our very own healthcare journey to #experiencemalaysiahealthcare.
