POKÉMON DETECTIVE PIKACHU (2019)

Pikachu is straight up adorable you guys, even if being voiced by Ryan Reynolds makes us think of a PG Deadpool.

Rob Letterman of Goosebumps fame directs Justice Smith as a 21-year old who just wants to find his dad, and teams up with Pikachu to find him. Cue CGI, the appearance of your favourite Pokémon characters, laugh-out-loud jokes, and some sentimentality about family. The filmmakers came up with a sweet and funny movie that should appeal to new and old fans, but if the words ‘Pokémon’ and ‘movie’ didn’t grab you in the first place, then you could probably give this one a pass and watch Deadpool instead.
