Cultured Beads

-

“The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree” which is the case with Cecalia Sincher Misak and her late grandmother’s legacy of intricate and fine beadwork. Noticing that her native Dayak Lundayeh tribe did not have their own ethnic earrings and would often match their traditional accessories with beaded earrings from other tribes, Cecalia started Sincher Beads Collection creating earrings to match the colors of their native beret and fata, interwoven with the tribe’s symbolic motifs. “The idea is to have the wearer look stunning and elegant while representing our tribe’s identity during any traditional event.” Being self-taught, Cecalia wanted her beadwork to tell a story as she intertwined imaginative, modern concepts with a distinct Bornean touch portraying her own roots. Unique accessories with a rich, cultural background? Yes please!
