Seri Damai Restaurant

-

The moment we approached the latest Seri Damai branch in Delima, it was love at first sniff. Naan breads are fried at a grilling station right outside the front door, and the smell should be enough to entice any wandering curryhead to enter. And enter we did, into an interior that manages to toe the line between gaudy and stylish – apt for a Pakistani restaurant of this price range.

Inside the smell transformed into fragrant spicy aromas. We ordered Chicken Butter Masala (which came with a slab of butter melting in the steel bowl), Prawn Karahi (spicy and delicious), Palak Paneer (topped with crumbs of cottage cheese), all of which we ate with plain biryani and an extra side dish of Raitha. We also ordered a set each of plain and Garlic Naan, and a set of skewered Beef Sheek Kebab. The menu has a vast selection of food which might be daunting for a newcomer to this type of cuisine but they have set menus for you to try a little bit of everything, which we would highly recommend.

These days, restaurants in Brunei gain recognition through one or all of the following virtues: for being trendy, for being an international franchise, for selling premium coffee, or most importantly, for serving great food. Seri Damai is only guilty of the last virtue, and that should be more than enough. Plus, as is important for any Indian/pakistani restaurant of worth, it smells great! #15, Blk B, EDR No 44896, Lot 53068, Kg Delima Satu, Berakas Open daily: 9am-10pm Tel: 673-2337722 FB: Seri Damai Restaurant & Catering IG: @seridamairestaurant
