Baiduri Bank unveils Royal Brunei Visa Cards
Baiduri Bank has introduced its latest suite of co-branded cards with Royal Brunei Airlines (RB) dubbed “Royal Brunei Visa Debit and Credit Cards by Baiduri Bank”.
The exclusive cards are designed to offer members a fast-track opportunity to earn more Royal Skies miles with every purchase made, catering to frequent flyers travelling for business and leisure.
Chief Executive Officer of Baiduri Bank Ti Eng Hui in his speech at the launching ceremony held at Baiduri Community Space recently said that the bank is pleased to build on a long-standing partnership with the national carrier to launch yet another market first with the introduction of the cards.
“Though we are unable to travel at the moment, we can already start accumulating miles by using the card for our everyday spend, so when the borders open again, we will have enough miles to redeem flights for our next vacation,” said the CEO.
Cardholders will earn miles at an attractive rate through daily spendings such as groceries, utilities and dining, and twice as much when they use their card at any Royal Brunei Customer Service Centre or online at www.flyRB.com.
There are three types of cards available namely; Royal Brunei Visa Platinum Debit Card, Royal Brunei Visa Platinum Credit Card and Royal Brunei Visa Infinite
Credit Card.
Some of the benefits cardholders can enjoy include exclusive yearround travel deals, four years annual fee waiver, complimentary baggage allowance on all RB flights and DragonPass membership privileges, as well as global privileges offered by Visa.
With a choice of debit and credit cards, these benefits are now accessible to a wider group of consumers in Brunei, who can opt for the type of card best suited to their needs and lifestyle.
Moreover, the Royal Brunei Visa Cards are the first co-branded payment and travel cards in the country equipped with the latest in contactless payment technologies.
According to Visa Country Manager for Singapore and Brunei, Kunal Chatterjee the usage of contactless payment in the sultanate has been growing in strength.
The benefit of contactless-enabled cards, he added, makes it easy for Visa cardholders to tap and pay at supermarkets and cafes in Brunei, or any merchant across the world that accept contactless payments.
“Although cross border travel has not resumed in many countries due to the pandemic, we introduced this product to Visa cardholders so that they can start earning their miles whenever they spend on their cards. Once travel restrictions are lifted across the world,
cardholders can redeem rewards to make flight bookings or upgrade their flights,” said the country manager.
On his part, Deputy Minister of Finance and Economy Dato Seri Paduka Dr Hj Abdul Manaf Hj Metussin said the travel cards offer a new way to earn miles on everyday spending and activities.
“This is one of a number of digital innovations, partnerships and collaborations that RB has worked on over the past months preparing, strengthening and building a strong platform for travel recovery,” he said.
He added: “We’ve seen across Brunei the widespread adoption of digital innovation accelerated as a result of COVID-19 with customer benefits ranging from food delivery, financial services, e-commerce ordering and, when the time is right, travel.”
Prior to the official launch, all successful applicants for the Royal Brunei Visa Credit Cards will receive four years annual fee waiver and up to 6,000 Royal Skies miles, provided that it is their first Baiduri card.
On top of that, from October 19 to January 24, 2021, all Royal
Brunei Visa Cardholders will automatically earn a lucky draw chance to win up to 100,000 miles when they activate their Card and an additional chance for every $50 charged to their Card. Cardholders will also stand a chance to win Royal Skies Silver membership.
