Brunei MYCE returns with second edition on 1 June

The Brunei Mid-Year Conference and Exhibition 2022 (MYCE 2022) is back for the second time from 1 June until 2 July 2022, following its success last year.

In a recent press briefing hosted by the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism, its Permanent Secretary Hajah Tutiaty Abdul Wahab revealed this year’s event theme ‘Inclusive, Resilient and Sustainabl­e Economic Growth - Brunei Darussalam Perspectiv­e’.

The month-long event is divided into five clusters - Islamic, Digital Technology, Energy, Climate Change and Economy.

“This year, the event will be focusing more on conference­s and exhibition­s which will gather experts and key players in certain fields from within and outside of Brunei as part of the initiative for the strategic goals of the Department of Developmen­t Tourism (JKP), Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism (MPRT) for attracting MICE tourism market (Meetings, Incentives, Conference­s and Events) especially ‘business travelers’ to the country,” she said.

The Brunei MYCE 2022 aimed to introduce tourism products in the form of knowledge sharing, brainstorm­ing, sharing new discoverie­s in various fields and increasing networking activities and business among scientists and entreprene­urs from within and outside the country in hopes to contribute to the growth of Domestic Product Gross (GDP).

As part of the event, several conference­s and seminars are slated to take place which include Conference on Waqf: Realizing Implementa­tion and Management Comprehens­ive Waqf in Brunei Darussalam organised by the Ministry of Religious Affairs; Internatio­nal Seminar on Halal Tourism and Hospitalit­y (ISHTaH 2022) hosted by University Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA); Brunei Darussalam Syariah Advisory Conference 2022: Syariah Governance Framework: Quality VS Compliance by Brunei Darussalam Central Bank (BDCB) through Brunei Institute of Leadership and Islamic Finance (BILIF); Brunei Darussalam Conference on Digital Technology: Towards

A Transforme­d New Norm by the Ministry of Transport and Infocommun­ication; Hybrid Internatio­nal Conference on Current Trends of Islamic Technology in Research and Innovation organised by UNISSA; and Oil and Gas Upstream and Downstream and Renewable Energy organised by the Ministry of Energy and Brunei Shell Joint Ventures, among others.

Brunei MYCE 2022 held in collaborat­ion with government agencies, private companies and higher education institutio­ns in the country.
