Projecting art into bracelets, LemonaDe is the product of Angeline Lim’s creativity and passion from a young age - making bracelets and accessories.

The 28-year-old has always been interested in handcrafted products and it is her dream to open a business.

Angeline began the business in 2019 when the pandemic first hit the country. The thought of pursuing her own venture came as she wanted to accomplish more things in life, not just merely a wishful thinking but to act on it.

“I love making bracelets since young and my inspirations come from a variety of sources, including personal experience or ideas shared by friends and family,” said the entrepreneur, adding that LemonaDe uses both natural and man-made beads for the products.

She named the business as ‘LemonaDe’ because she views life just like the lemonade, with lemons symbolising the adversities in life.

LemonaDe offers a variety of accessories from bracelets, necklaces, anklets and rings as well as customisation upon customers’ requests.

The jewelleries are priced from $16 to $30 depending on the design.

For her collections, Angeline makes prior research into the designs and tries make them as authentic as possible while at the same time following current trends.

“I mainly read jewellery blogs and stay up to date on the latest developments and design ideas. And of course, I do glance through some favourite stores to get some inspiration too,” said the 28-yearold.

The marketing clerk puts thorough work into each of her design, believing that every designer has their own concept, giving distinct touch and style.

Angeline mainly uses Instagram and Facebook for her business with the handle @lemonade_ brunei serving as a purchasing platform and portfolio showcasing all her artistry.

Since the pandemic, online shopping has become a trend, and this has helped this small business in gaining the attention of people and potential customers.

However, being a small jewellery business, it comes with its own challenges, especially when it is done solo.

For the youthpreneur, it is the lack of time as she has a day job. She can only spend her time making the jewellery at night or in the weekends to fulfill customers’orders.

Moreover, noting that there are also many businesses selling jewelleries, for Angeline what’s important is that she needs to keep on developing her ideas with designs that are authentic and eyecatching to customers, setting her apart from the rest.

“I used to work in an average workplace before starting my own small business. I really want to do something closer to my heart, therefore I began to do what I am passionate about. I did some research on the challenges that an online business would encounter, I understand the risk, and am aware that I will most likely not succeed right away,” said the business owner.

The crafter knew that becoming an entrepreneur is not an easy journey and it will take a lot of research, planning and general deep thought to succeed as an entrepreneur.

“I spent a lot of time seeking for a reliable provider who could guarantee the product’s quality and also I’ve also looked up and studied the skills on the internet,” said Angeline.

In the future, the entrepreneur eyes to expand LemonaDe and bring in additional varieties of beads and accessories to the store.

With hard work and dedication, Angeline believes that anyone can be a successful entrepreneur if they keep learning and challenging themselves while at the same time enjoying the journey.
