MoH, Gleneagles JPMC sign agreement for Workplace and Health Programme initiatives
Ministry of Health (MoH) and Gleneagles JPMC continue to strengthen their collaborative venture via a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for the commencement of three initiatives under the Workplace and Health (WAH) Programme.
The initiative which started in 2019 encourages workplaces to provide for and support active lifestyle, healthy eating, becoming smoke-free and have good mental well-being.
Under the WAH programme, a new weight loss project dubbed ‘Fit & Active Lifestyle Club Season 1 (FALC S1)’, will be introduced to six selected ministries which aimed to assist the participants to achieve a healthy weight and practice an active lifestyle.
Meanwhile, the Happy Environment and Lifestyle (HEAL) Programme will resume in June which goal is to organise physical activity interventions in community settings leveraging through partnerships and networking with local stakeholders.
As for the Health Lifestyle Programme, it will cover several projects.
In addition, to promote healthy eating, a national salt reduction program will be planned.
The MoU outlines the commitment of both agencies in continuing to strengthen and coordinate existing and new efforts to promote a healthy lifestyle and ultimately, prevent and control noncommunicable diseases in Brunei Darussalam.
These programmes are aimed at promoting a healthy lifestyle and preventing heart disease among Bruneians, said the ministry in a statement.
The WAH website was previously launched to provide various health topics on the risks of noncommunicable diseases.
Civil servants are welcome to access and register an account at the WAH website through whp.gov. bn starting July 2022.
Present at the signing ceremony was Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohammad Isham Haji Jaafar, Minister of Health.
Signing the agreement on behalf of the Government of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam was Deputy
Permanent Secretary (Professional) at MoH Dr Ang Swee Hui and signing on behalf of Gleneagles JPMC was Chief Executive Officer of Gleneagles JPMC Dr Peter Tay.
The signing of the MOU was witnessed by Head of Health Promotion Centre at MoH Dr Hajah Norhayati Haji Md Kassim and Chief Operating Officer of
Gleneagles JPMC ‘Izzul Hamzi Haji Jomari.
With the signing of the MOU, a cheque amounting to $250,000 was presented by Dr Peter Tay to the health minister which will be used to continue and strengthen the three joint venture programmes by both parties.
