Huawei Technologies (Brunei) is committed to bringing digital to every person, home and organisation for a fully connected, intelligent and inclusive world.

This was highlighted by CEO Kevin Zhang Jianwe during Huawei Technologies’ ICT Digital Transformation Workshop at the Brunei Mid-Year Conference and Exhibition 2022 (MYCE).

The CEO also pointed out that the pandemic has magnified the need for digital transformation which has reshaped business priorities and changed the way we work.

“We are excited to be part of the MYCE, not only to showcase our solutions but to demonstrate our commitment to helping Brunei transform as the country moves into an economic recovery,” he said.

“In addition to our carrier network infrastructure and smart devices, we will also showcase our sustainable and enterprise business solutions for industries aiming to digitalise,” he added.

Huawei also recognises that digitalisation and full cloud adoption is a process that needs proper consideration.

According to the CEO, the company is committed to innovating in cloud technology and scenario-based solutions to assist partners and customers across all industries in their transition to go digital.

To help companies in Brunei during digital transformation, Kevin said that there are three key areas that must be followed.

“First, customer-centricity, addressing customer challenges and providing strong solutions,” he said.

“Secondly, the convergence of technologies and operations within architecture or Intelligent Twins, where Huawei provides customers with a highly efficient campus, intelligent cloud, green power, hyper-converged data center and time-delay-determined network solutions,” he added.

“Finally, future digital economy development will be dependent on high-density connections, highcapacity computing, and lower carbon emissions.

The integration of 5G+F5G technology will significantly impact network capabilities and support the needs of both enterprises and industries with better connectivity, easing the way of doing business digitally,” he concluded.

Huawei commits to building an inclusive digital Asia-Pacific

Huawei hopes to help AsiaPacific build a leading and green infrastructure, including 5G, broadband, and data centres.

This was highlighted by Public Services Solution Director for Huawei Asia-Pacific, Yong Rong during his keynote speech at Huawei Technologies (B)’s “ICT Digital Transformation Light Up The Future” event at the Brunei Mid-Year Conference and Exhibition 2022 (MYCE).

“From the event, I can strongly feel that a digital Brunei

Transformation is coming. In this process, we are inspired to see that Asia-Pacific countries have released clear policies for digitalization and low carbonization,” he said.

Huawei regards Asia-Pacific as a strategic market. “Over the past 20 years, with the support and trust of customers and partners, we are proud to be part of the region’s digital transformation,” he said.

In his keynote, Yong highlighted digital transformation and its potential in driving an economy and improving people’s quality of life.

Yong also spoke about the company’s mission, “In AsiaPacific, for Asia-Pacific”, under which Huawei is committed to becoming a key contributor to the digital economy in Asia-Pacific, and introducing innovation to build a better green digital life.

“The digital economy has become a major engine of the global economy. Green and lowcarbon technologies have become new drivers for sustainable development,” said.

According to Asian Development Bank and Southeast Asia Digital Economy Report, by 2030, ASEAN will become the 4th largest economy in the world. The region’s digital economy market is expected to reach $1 trillion.

Yong also shared that Huawei has provided connectivity for more than 90 million households and one billion mobile users in Asia-Pacific.

“We have to recognize that ICT infrastructure is the cornerstone of the Digital Economy. The vitality of the digital economy will revolve around connection density, computing diversity and carbon reduction. In gist, building an ecosystem which would give the society a denser and longer reach with more intelligence and green will be the criteria of success in the new economy,” he shared.

In his keynote, Yong also highlighted 5G as a key player for the future.

“Connectivity using 5G and F5G will be the new norm, be it from the consumer market providing consumers a hi-speed, reliable connection, connecting, giving them the best experience from the digital world to the physical world,” he said.

“From experience in China, the implementation of 5G has helped to accelerate efficiency and comfort for the port and coal mining industry. 5G technology has helped to bring staff from underground to air-conditioned offices and ensure a safe production environment. 5G had also allowed greater productivity for crane operations in Ningbo Port allowing the port to save nearly 5.8m annually,” he shared.

Concluding his keynote, Yong also shared that Huawei also aims to develop skilled, local ICT talent and bridge communication between countries and cultures through its corporate social responsibility (CSR) projects, such as the Huawei ASEAN Academy and Seeds for the Future.

“Through the Huawei ASEAN Academy and Seeds for the Future,

Huawei has worked with partners to train 170,000 local talents.

In the next five years, we will continue to train 500,000 digital talent. Seeds for the Future had been in Brunei since 2015, and had benefited 112 students in Brunei,” he said.

“Coming together is a beginning, working together is a success. In the past 30 years, Huawei has been rooted in the region’s fast digitalisation journey. As always, Huawei is confident and determined to work with customers and partners to be a key contributor to the Asia-Pacific digital economy. Innovating nonstop, together for a better green digital life,” he concluded.
