Brunei to resume land, sea cross border activities on 1 August
Brunei is set to resume its land and sea cross-border activities on 1 August 2022 with travel guidelines similar with the existing exit and entry requirements via air, announced the COVID-19 Steering Committee recently.
Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Halbi Haji Mohd Yussof in a press conference revealed the definitions for full vaccinated travellers for foreign nationals, citizens and permanent residents of Brunei.
For inbound and outbound travels via air, land, or sea, foreign nationals must at least have two doses of the COVID-19 vaccines.
“However, foreigners who wish to enter the country are encouraged to obtain a booster dose to preserve the safety, security and well-being of all parties,” he said.
Meanwhile, citizens and permanent residents of Brunei Darussalam must have at least three doses of vaccinations.
If one has not received the third dose, they should have obtained their second dose no more than three months prior to the date of departure from the country.
“To this end, for those who have not been vaccinated or have not completed their vaccinations yet including booster doses, it is advisable to do so immediately to avoid more severe symptoms,” added the minister.
YB Pehin Halbi further said that exit and entry travel via land and seaports are to be aligned with existing air travel guidelines.
These include being fully vaccinated, obtaining travel medical insurance with coverage of COVID-19 treatment prior to exiting the country for citizens and permanent residents of Brunei Darussalam and completing the Arrival Declaration Form (ADF) before entering or returning to the country.
“The COVID-19 Steering Committee will continue to monitor the current situation of the COVID-19 in the country while ensuring that any control measures imposed are appropriate, in order to maintain the safety, security and well-being of the citizens and residents of Brunei Darussalam. Any changes and updates will be announced immediately to the public,” concluded the minister.
