The Football Association of Brunei Darussalam (FABD) announced that no spectators are allowed at the match venue in the final rounds of the Brunei Futsal Cup 2022 (BFC).

This move is made owing to the surge of COVID-19 cases in the country, prompting FABD to reinforce its COVID-19 protocol, making sure everyone involved in the running of the BFC 2022 is safe and well-protected.

In a statement issued by FABD, the association believes that the move ensures that all teams involved can be at their peak conditions - with no key players succumbing to the virus throughout the final rounds.

This will also enforce stronger fair play among the teams, it said.

“It will also help curb the spread of the virus as only players, team officials and organising committee members with body passes are allowed at the match venue. They are also required to conduct ART tests prior to coming to the matches,” said FABD.

FABD appreciates the understanding given by those who are involved, adding that it is also currently working on a livestreaming service for the final rounds so everyone can watch and enjoy the matches.

Futsal clubs that have advanced to the final rounds of the Cup are;

MS ABDB, Shah United, Kasuka ArRawda, DDT FT, Almerez FA, Kota Ranger, Qahar FT and Arbisyam - all of them being the best two from their respective groups.

These teams are further pitched against each other in a group stage called ‘Battle of the Champions’, where the top two rankers of each group will advance to the semifinals, which will be held in two legs (home and away) along with the finals.
