Shell step up gas search off Tan­za­nia

DAR ES SALAAM- Shell, the An­gloDutch en­ergy ma­jor, has started a twow­ell ex­plo­ration cam­paign off Tan­za­nia as it seeks to de­velop a liq­ue­fied nat­u­ral gas project.

The joint ven­ture part­ners which in­cludes Ophir En­ergy and Sin­ga­pore’s Pav­il­ion En­ergy, will in­vest close to $80 mil­lion on the drilling. Ac­cord­ing to the joint ven­ture spokesper­son, they are tar­get­ing prospects in blocks 1 and 4, which con­tain to­tal po­ten­tial re­sources of about 2.5 tril­lion cu­bic feet. Shell has char­tered the No­ble Glo­be­trot­ter 2 drill­ship for the drilling ex­er­cise.
