SHARKS SHOWN TO BE SIMILIAR TO HUMANS

It came as a shock when in the beginning of 2016, Dr Evan Byrnes revealed that members of a certain species of shark have individual personalities. Port Jackson sharks were brought into captivity and tested to see how they would individually react to certain trials. What Byrnes and his team discovered was that each shark’s behaviour consistently differed from one another. During the behavioural tests, some sharks were considerably bolder than others, whereas other sharks were more easily stressed. It confirmed his earlier suspicion – that members of this species of shark are not mindless, uniform machines, but are, in fact, contrasting individuals, just like us.
