GETTING THERE

Take a bus from Bandar Seri Begawan to Kuala Belait via the Seria Bus Terminal. The journey is around 1 hour 30 minutes.

MARINE LIFE

Barracuda, lionfish, nudibranchs, sea fans, sponges, groupers, feather stars, snapper, sweetlips, schools of jacks, and corals of all forms. Occasionally, you may encounter hammerheads, whitetips and leopard sharks Located in the westernmost part of Brunei, Kuala Belait is the second-largest settlement in the country after Bandar Seri Begawan. Translating directly from the Malay meaning “the mouth of the Belait river”, the town is in one of the best locations in Brunei for openwater dives.

As a river port at the centre of an oil field, Kuala Belait may not be known as a popular tourist attraction, but its prime location along the South China Sea makes the town the ideal jumping-off point for the country’s wrecks and coral reefs. Divers are encouraged to use an operator to arrange their dives. Below are just some of the many dive sites to consider visiting.
