DONG BEI JIAO

-

Located an hour’s drive from Taipei, Dong Bei Jiao (東北角) was the starting point for my journey. This dive site was a good “refresher” for me, and for anyone who has not dived in a long time. Realistically, it was never going to be a worldclass dive site, considering it is right next to a city. But if you factor in the convenience of the place, then I’d say it is definitely worth a visit, particularly if you love macro photography.

Unfortunately, I didn’t have a chance to take any photos here because I only did one dive during the competition, but luckily my friend Kyo Liu, who is an avid diver of this spot, shared images of the island’s underwater world.

Do three dives here, shoot as much as you want, and once you’re ready to call it a day, hop out of the water and take a drive to Shilin Night Market for dinner – how amazing does that sound? It was only the first site I had visited, but Dong Bei Jiao had already given me a sneak peek into what diving in Taiwan was like and I was already loving it.
