THE CHIEF DRAGON
Also known as the Car Wreck, the Chief Dragon is a 112-metre-long car transport vessel that rests northwest of Colombo Harbour. During the warring years, parts of the wreck were blown off by the Sri Lanka Navy in a bid to reduce hazards to other ships. Today, the Chief Dragon is infamous for the graveyard of cars that surrounds the wreck. Teeming with vibrant corals and colourful sea-dwellers, the site is an endlessly surreal experience. Sitting at a maximum depth of 35 metres with strong currents that attract larger pelagics, the wreck is only suitable for experience divers.
