NILGIRI TUGBOAT WRECK

-

The Nilgiri met a valiant end in 1997 while attempting to assist another vessel in trouble, sinking off the coast of Mount Lavenia and coming to a halt upside down on the seabed. Due to its unique resting position, divers cannot resist exploring the bowels of the wreck and experiencing the disorienting and surreal experience of swimming through a topsy-turvy ship. The maximum depth of the Nilgiri is around 31 metres, where the twin propellers and rudders stand upright. Look out for lionfish and the reef sharks that reside in the shadows of the underside.
