OBike launches delivery service

Singaporean bike-sharing startup oBike has launched a service called oBike Flash to help users deliver their items to a destination of their choice. The company, which is calling for users to become couriers, said deliveries would reach destinations within two hours. To become an oBike ‘Flashman', people simply download an Android app that allows them to accept orders. Although analysts said that oBike was essentially launching another startup by introducing a delivery business, questions remain on its profitability. Observers have said that relying on the bicycle and its limited speed to carry out deliveries may be a disadvantage given that well-established courier companies use motorised transport.
