Southeast Asia Globe - - Panorama -

Nearly 40,000 people have fled from their homes

ahead of a fierce eruption from Mount Mayon, 500km southeast of the Philippine capital of Manila. The volcano has erupted at least 50 times in the past 500 years, killing about 1,200 people in 1841 when an

entire village was consumed by molten rock.
