Perfect 10 for Naga against woeful Western
TWO-TIME champions NagaWorld have never had it so good score-wise on the pitch in recent memory as George Bisan’s five-goal haul added to Mathew Osa’s double brace to inflict a 10-1 mauling on hapless Western Phnom Penh in their Metfone C-League match on Sunday evening.
Under blazing lights at Olympic Stadium it was perhaps the darkest hour for Western, who suffered their 10th straight defeat – and to make matters worse they helped add to their opponent’s tally with an own goal.
The double-digit thumping means Western have conceded 45 goals so far this season, and Soueng Panha’s 56th minute consolation brought their meagre goalscoring record to just four.
Bisan punished Western as early as the 17th minute, and before the halftime whistle he had added two more, while strike partner Osa hammered home a hat-trick.
Nutu Pitu’s own goa l on t he ha lfhour mark left Western 7-0 down at half-time.
Both Osa and George were far from finished in the second session. The pair scored three more to force the Naga haul into double digits.
The victory took Naga to the top of the standings with 25 points, one ahead of last week’s tabletoppers Boeung Ket, who had dig themselves out of a tight spot to hold newcomers Visakha to a 1-1 draw on Saturday. Visakha, with 20 points, sit in third ahead Ministry of National Defense in fourth with 18 points and Commissary of National Police in fifth on 17.
Six-time champions Phnom Penh Crown dropped down to seventh in the table following their goalless draw on their home pitch at the RSN Stadium against second-from-bottom Electricite du Cambodge, who bravely held defending champions Boeung Ket to a draw last month.
