Villagers resolve to depose sanctuary chief
THE 1,294 families from Kampong Cham commune in Kratie province’s Sambo district who had filed a complaint demanding the removal of the Prey Lang Wildlife Sanctuary chief is set for an inter-ministerial hearing today. The villagers accused sanctuary chief Nhem Visal of abusing them and allowing traders to log and haul timber illegally. A’Chen village chief Suon Hom expressed hope that Visal and his associates will be removed from their positions after the hearing. “I will request their removal … the chiefs and normal officers,” he said.
