Noun Borey stars at gala awards bash

-

SEVERAL weeks after the domestic football season ended, top notch performers and winning teams in both the prestigious Hun Sen Cup and the Metfone C-League got their well deserved rewards at a glittering show at the Premier Centre Sen Sok on Friday night.

For the second year running the Cambodian National Competitions Committee (CNCC) made it a gala affair, though the community at large favoured the coveted prizes being given away on the day of the competitions instead of dragging out for weeks.

Hun Sen Cup winners Ministry of National Defence picked up their second trophy while Noun Borey was the star local player, bagging the top scorer, best player and best U23 player awards.

First season coach Meas Channa, who took over from Prak Sovannara, saw his dream of a league-cup double shattered. But it was his turn to be adjudged coach of the year following NagaWorld’s third triumph in the Metfone C-League. The club also won the fair play award.

Veteran Kouch Sokumpheak had the double delight of being named best player and the most popular one too.

Nigerian George Bisan was deservedly the Golden Boot winner with 28 goals.
