LESSONS at Sampov Loun High School in Battambang province are coming to a standstill, following a decision to close the school on Tuesday and Wednesday by members of the school committee and local authority. This follows a case of mass fainting that saw over 40 students affected. Sampov Loun district police chief, Pich Saren, said the students had difficulty breathing and felt fatigued since last Thursday. “[The students] got tired after studying too much. They were not affected by any type of poison,” he said. Chork Sam Ol, the district hospital director, echoed Saren’s remark, saying: “There is no serious problem. They did not have enough food, in addition to overstudying.”
