Ferry port share­holder kills him­self

VANN Ra­mon, the deputy di­rec­tor of the im­mi­gra­tion de­part­ment and share­holder of Arey Ksat ferry port com­mit­ted sui­cide, Lvea Em deputy dis­trict po­lice chief in Kan­dal prov­ince, Phorn Sreng said.

He con­cluded this fol­low­ing a post-mortem ex­am­i­na­tion of the body and a visit to the crime scene by ex­perts.

They found a bul­let, a shell of a K59 pis­tol and a weapon doc­u­ment which con­firmed that it be­longed to the de­ceased, as well as three mag­a­zines loaded with 17 bul­lets in to­tal dur­ing the in­ves­ti­ga­tion, Sreng said.

“The vic­tim was found ly­ing on a small bed with one leg on the arm­chair and shoes were prop­erly worn. There were traces of a gun­shot at the right tem­ple, in­di­cat­ing the bul­let went through the left ear, and the ex­perts con­cluded that the vic­tim com­mit­ted sui­cide,” he said.

Un­able to com­ment on the mo­tive for the sui­cide, Sreng said the in­ves­ti­ga­tion team is still col­lect­ing in­for­ma­tion from Ra­mon’s fam­ily.

“Fam­ily mem­bers and rel­a­tives did not pro­vide any de­tailed in­for­ma­tion to the author­i­ties, say­ing only that, ‘the de­ceased had an ill­ness and some fam­ily is­sues’.”

The po­lice re­port said the crime took place at 5:15pm on Tues­day. The body was first dis­cov­ered by Veng Darith, the port man­ager, who had en­tered the house to col­lect petrol. He called the po­lice upon see­ing Ra­mon’s body.
