Thai shippers: trade war pause offers hope

The Phnom Penh Post - - BUSINESS -

THAI National Shippers’ Council has continued to maintain export growth of eight per cent this year compared to last year as the US-China trade war shows signs of relaxing, the council’s chairperson Ghanyapad Tantipipatpong said on Tuesday. The figures are based on the Thai baht at 33 per USD, she said, adding that the council also estimates export growth of five per cent next year compared with this year, thanks to the trade war between China and the US being on hold for 90 days. “If they both can finalise the negotiations and end the trade war, that will be better for the country’s exports in the next year,” she said.
