Myanmar elevated rail feasibility study ongoing
DEPUTY Minister for Transport and Communications Kyaw Myo said a detailed feasibility study is being conducted to build an elevated railroad in Yangon. “We are considering two elevated railways. We are coordinating with the Japan International Cooperation Agency. It is just under discussion, but I mean we will implement the project.” He said the circular railroad is being upgraded while the Ministry of Construction plans to implement an elevated road project to reduce severe traffic congestion in Yangon with the cooperation of government ministries. “The trains we will use are diesel electric ones. RBE trains will also be used. Japan is planning to send us diesel electric trains.” He told the reporters that a subway project was currently impossible due to budget constraints.
