The Phnom Penh Post - - NATIONAL -

THE Appeal Court on Thursday suspended three years of a 17-year-old girl’s five-year prison term for trafficking 101.9g of methamphetamine. Presiding Judge Kim Dany decided the girl should serve only two years in prison but upheld Banteay Meanchey provincial court’s initial verdict that she should pay an eight million riel ($2,000) fine. “The court allows you to serve only two years in prison because at the time you were still a minor, so you should serve half the adult punishment,” he said. The case relates to an incident in Poipet city on September 30, 2017, when the girl’s brotherin-law Hen Khun, 40, ordered her to deliver a purse to another woman.
