US METAL packaging products firm Crown Holdings Inc will begin operations on its third line production at its existing plant in Phnom Penh this month in its latest move in its global expansion, according to the firm’s announcement released on Thursday.

According to Crown Holdings’ fourth quarter 2018 results, the expansion of its production line in Phnom Penh will serve to satisfy an increasing consumer demand for beer packaged in cans, energy drinks and ready-to-drink tea segments.

“In January 2019, we commenced operations on the third line at the company’s existing plant in Phnom Penh, Cambodia,” Crown Holdings said in its report. The firm’s announcement did not provide further details of production capacity or disclose the location of the plant.

Crown Holdings’ Singaporebased subsidiary, Crown Asia Pacific Holdings Ltd, is a reportable segment in Asia Pacific, which primarily consists of canned beverage operations in Cambodia, China, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.

The Asia Pacific segment had net sales of $1.31 billion last year, up from $1.17 billion in 2017.

Crown Holdings first entered Cambodia in 2007 with a single production line in Sihanoukville. Until mid-2016, the company operated three production plants in Cambodia – two in Phnom Penh and one in Preah Sihanouk province. The company’s third canned beverage plant in Cambodia began commercial production in the second quarter of 2016.
