Fisherman’s tale

Thousands of people attend the procession of the Virgen del Carmen, the patron saint of fishermen, on the Spanish Canary Island of Tenerife, on Tuesday. Every year, local residents of the resort carry the statue of the Virgin from its chapel to a small beach in the fishing harbour. Once at the beach, the fishermen put the statue on board a decorated boat and it sails along the coast.
