Woman dies after village healer treatment

“I wrote in t he police record t hat it was a ca se of i nvolu nta r y manslaug hter,” sa id Sok ha.

O n Mond a y, S a m r o n g t o w n pol ic e ch ief Hem Phea r u m s a id Mao’s relatives told him t hat her pare n t s c a l l e d t h e s u s p e c t a t a round 1pm on Saturday a f ter Mao bega n to ex h ibit sig ns of s e vere postpa r tum depression.

Upon a rriva l, he hooked her up to a s er u m d r ip, wh ich r a n out at a round 4pm, sa id Phear um.

At 6pm, he s a i d, t he s u s pe c t administer­ed t hree dif ferent pi l ls at t he sa me t ime. At 7:45pm, Mao suddenly conv ulsed a nd died.

He added t hat inter rogat ion a nd f u r t her i nv e s t i g a t i on b y p ol i c e revea led t hat t he suspect d id not have a medica l licence f rom eit her t he Minist r y of Hea lt h or its prov incia l depar t ment.
