THE Embassy of India has announced the availability of scholarships for Cambodian students wishing to pursue higher studies at Indian universities, it said on Monday.

Indian Embassy second secretary Adarsh Kumar Mishra said that the scholarships were available for students wishing to pursue undergraduate, bachelors, masters and doctorates during the 202021 academic year.

“This scheme [is] a part of India’s bilateral cooperation programme and administered by the Indian Council for Cultural Relations, which is part of the Ministry of External Affairs.

“Universities or colleges where students can seek admission are fairly large in number and spread throughout the length and breadth of India,” Mishra said.

Prospective students will be reimbursed for the full cost of their airfare after completing their studies, Mishra said, and that free accommodation will be provided at dormitories in addition to book allowances, and medical insurance.

Full-time students will also be eligible for monthly stipends of $250 to $350, Mishra told The Post.

Students from a variety of disciplines, including the humanities, management, engineering and technology, among others, are eligible for the scholarships, its press release said.

Candidates applying for scholarships to attain Bachelors of Science, Bachelors of Education and Bachelors of Technology are required to have studied physics, chemistry and mathematics in high school.

Doctoral candidates must provide a synopsis of their proposed area of research, while arts students must include audio or video clips of their performance as a part of their application.

Shortlisted candidates will be called for a qualifying English language proficiency test and interview at the Embassy of India in Phnom Penh.

The last day to submit applications for doctoral candidates is July 31 and January 31 for undergraduate and bachelor students.

Applicants must be between the ages of 18 and 30, while those applying for PhD courses should be below 45 years at the time of admission.

The press release encouraged prospective applicants to visit the scholarship portal (a2ascholarships.iccr.gov.in) for more information, including a list of available academic institutions.
