Over 50 homes ready for veterans in Pursat

- Voun Dara

THE Pursat Provincial Administration said 58 of 164 houses for Cambodian veterans have been built on social land concessions in Prangil commune’s Say village in Phnom Kravanh district. The homes are ready for veterans and their families to move in, it said.

Prime Minister Hun Sen and his wife Bun Rany provided $500,000 for construction as many veterans need shelter, it said.

On May 9, Cambodian Veterans Association vice-president and secretary-general Kun Kim inspected the houses and infrastructure in the area. He said the Pursat Veterans Association requested assistance to address the hardships of about 600 families of veterans in the province.

“Currently, building houses and infrastructure here is carried out carefully by stakeholders. It is to make sure that they are ready as soon as possible and give the Cambodian veterans’ families a place to stay,” said Kim.

He said that besides building houses, the Ministry of Rural Development and Pursat provincial governor Mao Thonin helped build infrastructure for veterans.

“Samdech Techo [Hun Sen] and Samdech Kittipritbandit [Bun Rany] have always urged authorities to support veterans, so the mostly elderly and disabled veterans can live a good life in a peaceful society that comes from their dedication,” Kim said, urging all working groups to pay attention to the construction of the village.
