Provinces enforce restriction measure amid outbreaks
THE Siem Reap Provincial Administration will continue to enforce Covid-19 administrative measures including a curfew, while the Banteay Meanchey Provincial Hall will take similar measures for Poipet town.
In Siem Reap, governor Tea Seiha announced his decision on June 12 to extend a curfew in the province for two weeks from June 13 to June 26.
“All traffic in Siem Reap is temporarily suspended from 10pm to 4am, save for essential travel,” he said.
Seiha said business activities of food stalls, restaurants and shopping malls must be suspended from 10pm to 4am, except orders for takeaway or delivery.
The measure also prohibits gatherings with food, drink or alcohol, except among family members living in the same home and at funerals permitted by the authorities.
“Any person who violates the ban on travel, work, business or gatherings will have strict legal action taken against them and they will be sent to the court for punishment including imprisonment and fines,” he said.
In Banteay Meanchey, governor Oum Reatrey also introduced temporary administrative measures in Poipet town for one week from June 13 to June 19.
Curfew is imposed on this town from 10pm to 5am, with a few exceptions such as heavy cargo transport to and from the Thai-Cambodian border and some other essential travel.
“Anyone who fails to comply with these administrative measures will be subject to penalties according to the law on the control of Covid-19 and other deadly contagious diseases,” he said.
Along the same lines, Oddar Meanchey provincial governor Pen Kosal has decided to temporarily lockdown three locations in Samrong town’s O’Smach commune until further notice.
“The lockdown is imposed on all traffic on streets 8 and 13 in Aphivath village and the Keo Heng noodle shop. The Samrong-town administration has cordoned off the three sites and is conducting a search for those with any direct or indirect contacts for testing and quarantine,” he said.
The Te Meng Dry Port and surrounding area in Konkriel commune’s O’Pek village in Samrong town will also be temporarily closed from June 12 until further notice.
Svay Rieng provincial governor Men Vibol has decided to suspend medical services at Svay Tiep Referral Hospital and Kandieng Reay Health Centre in Kandieng Reay commune’s Prasot 1 village of Svay Tiep district, because a number of people there have tested positive for Covid-19 or come in direct or indirect contact with infected patients. The suspension will last for two weeks from June 11-24.
