Ministry inaugurates Erasmus project
THE Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport has inaugurated the UNICATION Erasmus project, funded by the EU to improve the quality of higher education in Cambodia. It is expected that the programme will support the Kingdom’s human resource development goals.
The February 16 inauguration ceremony was presided over by education minister Hang Chuon Naron and was attended by EU ambassador to Cambodia Igor Driesmans and Philippine ambassador Maria Amelita Aquino, as well as other dignitaries, said a February 19 social media post by the ministry.
Chuon Naron explained that the project is a symbol of the joint efforts and strong commitment of all stakeholders. It will focus on capacity building, skills development, inter-cultural relations and project management.
“We believe that the implementation of this project will deliver fruitful and productive results for long-term cooperation, in line with our vision of improving the quality of higher education in Cambodia and achieving the goal of human
resource development and promoting exchanging of experiences between the people of the EU and Asia,” he said.
Through the UNIFICATION Eramus project, the education ministry expects to provide many benefits to the development of higher education and connectivity between Europe and Asia. This will include strengthening cooperation and knowledge exchanges,
cultural awareness and mutual respect, promoting global employment and careers, and enhancing international ties.
The ministry added that through this project, networks for joint research, training, college exchanges and curriculum development will be created. It believes that transcontinental collaboration will lead to new discoveries and share best practices to improve
education in Cambodia.
It explained that student exchange programmes promote cultural awareness, empathy and respect, which paves the way for stronger international relations and cooperation in various fields, as well as mutual understanding and expanding the scope of knowledge. This will create an inclusive study environment for students from both continents.*
