YOUTH
The Surrey Board of trade was pleased to welcome Prime Minister Justin Trudeau at the live digital Top 25 Under 25 Awards event.
His message resonated with the audience where he celebrated the incredible initiatives, community and entrepreneurial spirit that Surrey’s youth have showcased. He was impressed to learn how Surrey’s youth are working towards the success of our city’s future but also Canada’s future.
Surrey is on the pathway to becoming the largest city in British Columbia. In fact, 1/3 of Surrey’s population is under the age of 19. That is why the federal government advocates and focuses on progressive, collaborative youth policies. The Surrey Board of Trade itself continues to create entrepreneurship pathways. It isn’t only about building a career; it is about creating innovative skill sets and building the jobs of tomorrow.
Given persistently high rates of youth unemployment in Canada - even higher now as a result of COVID - preparing youth to follow an entrepreneurial path is not only an acceptable choice, but a strategic decision.
