Doug Tennant Inducted as Board Chair for One More Year
It’s an honour to be selected as Board Chair by my fellow directors for a second year. 2020 has already been a challenging year for our business members and it is very important that the Surrey Board of Trade remains consistent in our drive to ensure that our Global End (mission) is met and that our members and the wider community have a business climate conducive to their success.
In 2019, the Board revised the Ends that fall beneath our Global End to the following three:
1. Businesses in and associated with Surrey have opportunities and supports to succeed;
2. Government decision-makers have information on current and emerging issues and how their decisions impact business; and,
3. Surrey is attractive to business.
The Global End and these three
Ends statements are why the Surrey Board of Trade exists, and SBOT CEO Anita Huberman is accountable for their achievement, while remaining compliant with Executive Limitations that the Board also sets out for her.
I want to thank you, our owners, for your engagement and participation in making Surrey a great place to do business, not only in 2019, but in the ongoing reality of 2020 and into 2021.
I also want to thank my fellow Board members for the dedication and commitment you have demonstrated to good governance of the SBOT and to listening and learning from our ownership. I’d especially like to thank Vice Chair Baljit Dhaliwal and Immediate Past Chair Dr. Greg Thomas for their support.
Finally, thank you to our CEO, Anita Huberman, and the SBOT staff team for all that they have done and continue to do, especially during these difficult times, to make our business community great.
