In September, the Province announced the launch of a transportation study in the South Fraser Economic Region (Fraser Valley) to help ensure the development of affordable and liveable communities.

“Education and transportation are the foundations of an economy,” said Anita Huberman, CEO of the Surrey Board of Trade. “Earlier this year, the Surrey Board of Trade advocated for the creation and funding of a South Fraser Inter-regional Economic Transportation Task Force to investigate and recommend the best possible transportation options within a one-year time frame. The need for a Regional Transportation Plan, with sustainable funding from all levels of government, for Surrey and the South Fraser Economic Region must be given immediate high priority and associated funding. We are pleased that the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure will begin this long overdue study.”

The Surrey Board of Trade continues to release an annual Surrey Roads Survey, detailing the many areas in Surrey and in the region that require transportation infrastructure investment. The Surrey Board of Trade is also 1 of 9 organizations that is a part of the Premier’s Economic Recovery Task Force.
