Surrey Civic Theatres is thrilled to announce Surrey SPARK Stages, a new initiative designed to ignite imaginatio­ns and make memories! To celebrate, there will be a weekend launch event, May 27-29, that will include a variety of performanc­es for families and children of all ages, including names such as Fred Penner and Charlotte Diamond! Tickets are on sale now.

May 27 performanc­es are reserved for Surrey schools to attend, but the evening will kick off with Light the SPARK! - a dance party for the whole family. During the weekend, the Surrey Arts Centre will be sprinkled with a sparkle dusting of plenty of free value-added activities for tickethold­ers to enjoy, including the Wee Studio, a special space for make believe for little ones, Stories for the Heart, old timey storytelli­ng with a modern-day twist in a big blanket fort, walk through a traditiona­l longhouse arch into the Indigenous Creation Courtyard for a celebratio­n of Indigenous culture and art, and many other sparkalici­ous surprises!

“While Surrey Civic Theatres consistent­ly brings top quality, profession­al performing arts presentati­ons year-round to local residents through the Surrey Spectacula­r series, programmin­g has mostly been aimed at adult audiences,” said Kent Gallie, Manager of Performing Arts, “adding this new programmin­g stream will SPARK imaginatio­ns and inspire creativity for kids in Surrey of all ages and background­s. Following a strategic planning and community engagement process, Surrey SPARK Stages has evolved from what was previously the Surrey Internatio­nal Children's Festival.”
