PERFORMING ART
Surrey Civic Theatres is thrilled to announce Surrey SPARK Stages, a new initiative designed to ignite imaginations and make memories! To celebrate, there will be a weekend launch event, May 27-29, that will include a variety of performances for families and children of all ages, including names such as Fred Penner and Charlotte Diamond! Tickets are on sale now.
May 27 performances are reserved for Surrey schools to attend, but the evening will kick off with Light the SPARK! - a dance party for the whole family. During the weekend, the Surrey Arts Centre will be sprinkled with a sparkle dusting of plenty of free value-added activities for ticketholders to enjoy, including the Wee Studio, a special space for make believe for little ones, Stories for the Heart, old timey storytelling with a modern-day twist in a big blanket fort, walk through a traditional longhouse arch into the Indigenous Creation Courtyard for a celebration of Indigenous culture and art, and many other sparkalicious surprises!
“While Surrey Civic Theatres consistently brings top quality, professional performing arts presentations year-round to local residents through the Surrey Spectacular series, programming has mostly been aimed at adult audiences,” said Kent Gallie, Manager of Performing Arts, “adding this new programming stream will SPARK imaginations and inspire creativity for kids in Surrey of all ages and backgrounds. Following a strategic planning and community engagement process, Surrey SPARK Stages has evolved from what was previously the Surrey International Children's Festival.”
