Young aut hor hopes to inspire with debut book

-

Vuyiseka Ndlondlo, a young East London businesswoman and author, hopes to inspire the youth in “unlocking” their true potential through spirituality in her debut book, The Divine Encounter.

Ndlondlo, 28, said her experiences and challenges in life were the chief reasons for putting pen to paper to write the short memoir.

The book explores family related issues, sexuality and unpacks the role of the church at large.

She touches on her battle with anger management and resentment at a young age.

Ndlondlo said her “eyes were opened” to a better life after having a divine encounter with God.

“I had anger problems that I couldn’t explain or pinpoint. I was in constant turmoil with myself and couldn’t see the road ahead of me clearly.

“It was up until I had an encounter with God that I gained spiritual freedom and found a renewed way of thinking. That way of thinking was lighter, and more clearer. It allowed me to make assertive decisions and gain control over my mental well-being,” said Ndlondlo.

The former Port Rex pupil said the book wants to “revive” the youth who are on a quest for success. She said the book is suitable for high school pupils and tertiary students.

“I have received some positive feedback from parents who have also read the book. So as much as it is targeted at the youth, parents can use it to help guide their children.

“I would like people to understand that I am not preaching that people must go to church or read the bible.

“I am encouraging them to take charge and do something with their lives, while living life in a manner that is pleasing to God,” she said.

Ndlondlo added that: “Most people go to church without having a spiritual encounter with God.

“I have been able to see the good and bad that life can bring, and I think we all need a push in the right direction while acknowledging our problems we may face. I hope to help young people seek God more and do more with their precious lives.”

The Divine Encounter is available at the Christian Booksellers and Stationery store in Berea, East London at a cost of R150.
