BEIJING
We’re on the (sculpture) hunt in Copenhagen and brushing up in Beijing. Instant Pots take over the world, while Chicago’s EMC2 hotel welcomes its new robot overlords. Plus, a pair of scentrepreneurs share their travel musts and mega-bars are the new mini-bars in Buenos Aires.
AIR CANADA offers daily flights to Beijing from Vancouver and Toronto.
Head to Beihai Park – one of China’s largest and best-preserved ancient imperial gardens – in central
Beijing to see street calligraphers practising dishu. Using a spongetipped Baiyun brush (named after notable street calligrapher Bai Yunzhu) and water, artists transcribe Chinese literature and poetry onto concrete with swift, graceful strokes. Be sure to snap a picture because these characters disappear in a flash.
