We’re hiring a skiff in Jamaica and scarfing down whoopee pies in Ogunquit, Maine. Astronaut David Saint-Jacques shares some pre-blast off thoughts and hat designer Maryam Keyhani shows off her new line of packable toppers. Plus: Women-only travel companies are circling the world, and chefs from California to Newfoundland replace olive oil with local alternatives.

AIR CANADA ROUGE offers the most flights from Toronto to Kingston – and this month marks 70 years of Air Canada service to Jamaica. Float your boat in Ocho Rios, a fishing village turned resort mecca on Jamaica’s north coast, a 70-minute drive from Kingston. Hire a charter to take you fishing, or on an excursion to Dunn’s River Falls, where you'll climb the 180-metre-long terraced cascade that empties into the Caribbean Sea. Then spend the afternoon snorkelling at a nearby reef – look for angelfish, clownfish, tangs and an array of coral as colourful as your skiff.
