Pumpkin Fest launched planned
The eighth annual Valley Pumpkin Fest will kick off next week in Berwick.
This year’s festival will be launched at Wheatons, 518 Shaw Road, Berwick on Sept. 26 at 11 a.m. Music, food and dignitaries will open the festival that celebrates the bounty of the land. The public is invited to attend.
The “Valley Pumpkin Fest” celebrates agriculture, cuisine and culture of the fall season in the Annapolis Valley and builds upon the region’s existing assets: u-picks, farm markets, wineries and more.
A number of events are planned across the Valley, including the 28th annual Windsor-West Hants Pumpkin Weigh-off on Oct. 6 at the Hants County Exhibition grounds and the 14th annual Pumpkin Regatta on Oct. 14 in Windsor.
Closer to home, Kentville’s Pumpkin People Festival are themed, “Lights, Camera, Pumpkins!” this year. Pixar and DreamWorks Movie Scenes will be on display Oct. 6-28, with over 300 Pumpkin People characters appearing all over Kentville. A new event for Kentville this year is Octoberfest on Oct. 6 in Centre Square and Kings Arm Pub.
Acadia University will hold the 20th Valley Harvest Marathon on Oct. 6-7, with events for all age categories.
The Valley Pumpkin Hunt Contest, with new locations, will be offered again this year, giving area residents the opportunity to hunt for special pumpkins using clues or geocaching coordinates.
