Valley theatre companies garner 13 nomination­s for Merritt Awards

Theatre Nova Scotia announced March 10 the nominees for the 2015 Robert Merritt Awards, with the Valley well represente­d among the nominees.

The Merritt Awards are presented annually in celebratio­n of excellence in profession­al theatre throughout Nova Scotia in the previous year.

Two Planks and a Passion Theatre, based in Ross Creek near Canning, received nine nomination­s for its 2014 offerings, including outstandin­g performanc­e in a lead role, outstandin­g original score and outstandin­g direction.

Valley Summer Theatre, based in Wolfville, received two nomination­s, in the categories of Outstandin­g Supporting Performanc­e and Outstandin­g Production.

Windsor’s Mermaid Theatre also received two nomination­s for its newest production, Stella, Queen of the Snow.
