Annapolis RCMP busy with grenade, bomb threat, break-ins

The Annapolis District RCMP had a busy week responding to a wide range of calls and incidents, including a bomb threat in Annapolis Royal, break-ins, car crashes and a lot more.

From Sept. 26 to early morning Oct. 3, police handled 105 calls for service.

Following are some of those calls and how they played out:

-- Sept. 26 at 11:53 a.m., Margaretsv­ille. Police received a report of a break and enter that that occurred sometime overnight. Police attended and the incident is still under investigat­ion.

-- Sept. 26 at 4:45 p.m., Margaretsv­ille. Police received reports of threats over Facebook. A person has been charged.

-- Sept. 6:12 p.m., Cornwallis. Police received a report of an out-of-control dog off its leash. The matter was referred to the municipal bylaw officer.

-- Sept. 27 at 4:44 p.m., Annapolis Royal. Annapolis RCMP assisted Annapolis Royal Police Department who were dealing with a bomb threat at Annapolis West Education Centre. There was no bomb.

-- Sept. 27 at 6:59 p.m., Highway 201, Round Hill. Police received a report of a vehicle fire. Police and fire both drove to the scene but the owner had the fire out by the time they arrived.

-- Sept. 27 at 9:25 p.m., Margaretsv­ille. Police received a report of a horse on the road. The complainan­t believed that somebody opened the pen. There was a patrol made but there was nothing to support those suspicions.

-- Sept. 28 at 10:41 a.m., Lawrenceto­wn. The theft of a bicycle was reported. Somebody took a 1990s model children’s bicycle with a special Harley-Davidson paint job. The theft is still under investigat­ion.

-- Sept. 28 at 4:51 p.m., Old Post Road, Granville Ferry. A fully-loaded Stone Slinger truck slid off the road and was partially blocking traffic. There were no injuries. The vehicle required a tow truck to get back on the road.

-- Sept. 28 at 10:48 p.m. Middleton. Police dealt with an intoxicate­d female who came to the Middleton detachment door. She was taken into custody and lodged in cells over night. She was released the next morning.

-- Sept. 29 at 5:19 p.m., Lawrenceto­wn. Police were contacted and advised that four shotgun shells were located. Police attended and collected the shells.

-- Sept. 29 at 5:51 p.m., New Albany. Police received a report about a break and enter into a cottage that happened sometime in the previous week. Further investigat­ion and calls discovered that other cottages in the area were also broken into. The breakins are under investigat­ion.

-- Sept. 29 at 9:31 p.m., Paradise. Police responded to singlevehi­cle crash. A car went into the ditch. Police and paramedics attended. There were no injuries. The driver caught the shoulder of the road and overcompen­sated.

-- Sept. 30 at 7:42 a.m., Clarence East. A break and enter into a business occurred overnight. And investigat­ion continues.

-- Sept. 30 at 1:14 p.m., Bridgetown. Police received a complaint of mischief. Four youths were caught on video taking all of the deposit slips at Scotiabank and putting them in the Royal Bank’s night deposit.

-- Sept. 30 at 1:56 p.m., Albany Cross. Police received a report about a break and enter into a trailer. Items were taken but no evidence could be collected because the owner cleaned up the trailer prior to police arrival. The investigat­ion continues.

-- Sept. 30 at 2:06 p.m., Nictaux. Police received a complaint of mischief. A number of election signs had been stolen and dumped on a person’s lawn overnight. Police attended and returned the signs to their respective owners.

-- Sept. 30 at 6:01 p.m., Upper Clements. Police were called to retrieve three old .22 caliber shells.
