There are clear leaders in the Valley division as the senior girls’ soccer season winds down.

As of Oct. 4, the Cambridgebased Central Kings Gators and Canning’s Northeast Kings Titans held the first and second place positions. Both teams made it through September undefeated, often besting their opponents by five goals or more in their rise to the top of the standings.

But when it came time for the two top teams to meet Oct. 5, it was NKEC that emerged victorious with a 4-0 win. Earlier in the season, the Titans recorded 7-0, 6-0 and 5-0 wins.

Central Kings coach Joanne Fairfax said the loss to NKEC marked the end of a four-game winning streak for the Gators, but it was “a hard played game.”

“CK will advance to the regional playoffs on Oct. 21 and 22; however, CK will not be hosting the regional tournament,” said Fairfax.

The seven-team Valley division also includes D2 teams from Clare, Annapolis West, Bridgetown, Digby and Middleton.

Central Kings topped Middleton 3-1 in a home game Oct. 4.

facing some stiff competition this season. She hopes to welcome several returning players back to the field next year.

“MRHS senior girls are continuing to work together as

a team, building on skills of a mainly grade ten team,” she said.

“This year’s team consists two graduating players, two Grade 11 players and two

international students, with the remaining players all in Grade 10.”

As of Oct. 5, the team had two ties and three losses in league play.
