New Minas dental clinic gives back to community

-

On April 8, Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Annapolis Valley and the New Minas Dental Centre partnered to offer patients a program that provides the gift of a healthy smile for the extended Big Brothers Big Sisters family.

This unique program was offered to patients over the age of 15 who are either older siblings or parents of “Littles” in the Big Brothers, Big Sisters program who face barriers with the cost of dental care.

Dr. Peter Bagnell at New Minas Dental Centre provided complimentary exams and treatment to patients, while hygienist Ashley Morine and Lindsay Gallie provided dental hygiene treatment as part of the Gift from the Heart program.

Bagnell said he was delighted to give back to the Annapolis Valley community, which he has been a part of for over 29 years. Along with staff, Bagnell said he wanted to highlight the importance of oral health and took the opportunity of Oral Health Month to educate people about the connection to overall health.

“We want to educate, inform and support all patients by giving them the tools they need to maintain healthy smiles, both inside and outside the dentist’s office,” Bagnell said.
