Donald William “Donnie” Llewellyn – 64, of Kentville. It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of a much loved husband, father and grandfathe­r to be. Donnie passed away suddenly on Sunday, April 9, 2017 at the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville following a very brief battle with cancer. Born on January 6, 1953 in Bridgewate­r, he was the son of the late Leroy and Jennie (Mccarthy) Llewellyn. Donald and his family moved to the Valley when he was a teenager. He was a graduate of Central Kings Rural High School, Cambridge. He also graduated from the Annapolis Regional Vocational School as a Nursing Assistant. The name changed from CNA to Licensed Practical Nurse. He was employed with the BFM and AVH, retiring in 2013. During his many years in the health care field he served on the Board of Directors of the Licensed Practical Nurses of NS (1985-2001). He was a member of CUPE Local 4150 where he served as Treasurer from 2002-2012. He was a member of the Executive of the Annapolis Valley Labour Council and on the Executive of the Kings North NDP Riding Associatio­n and the Official Agent for Jim Morton in the 2013 election. He also served as the Vice President of the Meadowview Developmen­t Associatio­n. He is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Becky (Connell); daughter, Ashley Llewellyn (Morgan Marshall), Aylesford; son, Bradley, Kentville; a grandchild arriving in September; mother-in-law, June Connell, Kentville; brother-in-law, Stephen Connell (Lisa), Centrevill­e; sister, Yvonne Mclaughlin, Nanaimo, BC; brother, Gary (Crystal), Rockland; numerous cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. He was predecease­d by sisters, Helen, Audrey and Barbara; brothers, Douglas, Lawrence, David, Lester, Clarence and Jamie; father-in-law, Warren Connell; brother-in-law, Edward Mclaughlin. Cremation has taken place. Visitation was held from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, April 12, 2017 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, where a celebratio­n of Donnie’s life, followed by a reception, was held at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 13, 2017, Reverend Debra Orton officiatin­g. Burial will take place at a later date. Family flowers only, by request. Donations in Donnie’s memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Meadowview Community Center. Funeral arrangemen­ts have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
