Jeepers, creepers, where did you get those peepers? I know where to get the peepers spring peepers, that is.

They are in a pond on my neighbour’s property and they have been making the most lovely sounds in the evening. They are capable of letting the majority (70 per cent) of their body freeze in winter during hibernation and will still survive. They can hardly wait for spring when they lay their eggs in water and enjoy their nightly choir group.

The district meeting of the Rebekah Lodge was held April 19 at the Berwick lodge hall. President of district, Julia Cox, called members together. The 2017-2018 officers are as follows: Zillah Gaul, president; June King, vice-president; Frances Burns, secretary-treasurer.

St. Eulalie hosted for 2017 and next year it will be St. Eudora’s turn.

After the meeting a memorial service was held to remember those who passed away since the last district meeting, led by Noble Grand of St. Eulalie.

A lovely program was done by St. Eulalie on friendship. Julia Cox, instructress of District #3, communicated how important it is to have all books of the lodges up to date. Cox then installed the new officers for 2017-2018.

May 3 is St. Eudora’s 110th anniversary of Rebekahs in the Town of Berwick. May 17 there will be a tea, which is open to the public. Watch the rug hookers to see what they do and perhaps you would be interested in joining them. Also, May 20 there will be a flea market. Come out and see what treasures you can find.

Keep an eye open in the community for more details on those events.
