Annapolis RCMP deal with scooter, speeders, break-ins and more

-- April 17 at 12:19 a.m. at Middleton. Police received a complaint of lights in a field on the caller’s property. The complainan­t believed someone might have been trying to take their tractor. Police attended and the vehicle was gone. Police did not find any suspicious activity.

-- April 17 at 6:49 a.m. at Lawrenceto­wn. Police intercepte­d a vehicle on Highway 101 at Lawrenceto­wn travelling in excess of 31 kilometres above the speed limit. The driver was charged and if found guilty will pay a fine of $410. RCMP ticked 25 other drivers for speeding in the course of the week in Middleton, Albany Cross, Nictaux, Waterloo, Inglisvill­e, Paradise, Bridgetown, Lequille, Wilmot, Moschelle, Bear River, Granville Ferry, and Cornwallis Park. Police charged four other motorists for failure to obey a traffic sign and if found guilty will each pay a fine of $180.

-- April 17 at 10:03 p.m. at Inglewood. Police received a report of a break into a vehicle. The complainan­t reported hearing the car door slam but was not able to see anyone. A patrol was made to the residence. There were no signs of anything suspicious. The person was reminded they should lock their vehicle even when it is in their own yard.

-- April 18 at 9:27 a.m. at Margaretsv­ille. Police received a complaint that sometime between April 15 and April 18 unknowns person ripped down the barricade to the Margaretsv­ille Wharf. The culprits also damaged road signs and mailboxes. Police spoke to residents and have identified a suspect. The investigat­ion is ongoing.

-- April 18 at 9:01 p.m. at Bridgetown. Police responded to a disturbanc­e at the arena in Bridgetown involving a number of adults and teens. Police went to the scene and determined the disturbanc­e was related to the ownership of a scooter that was purchased on Kijiji. The investigat­ion is ongoing as to proper ownership of the scooter.

-- April 18 at 9:08 p.m. at Bridgetown. Police responded to a report of an assault that stemmed from the possession and ownership of a scooter. The investigat­ion is continuing.

-- April 19 at 3:47 p.m. at Middleton. A person went to the detachment with a bicycle they had found. The bike was rusted and worn. It looked like it was out in the elements all winter. The bike will be held for 90 days at which time it can be given to the finder if nobody claims it.

-- April 20 at 9:39 a.m. at Lawrenceto­wn. Police were called to a two-vehicle crash. There were no injuries. One of the vehicles had been parked on the shoulder of the road and the second vehicle struck it. There are no charges.

-- April 20 at 8:13 p.m. at Bridgetown. Police received a complaint of a breakand-enter. The residents returned home to find a broken window. Police collected evidence and conducted neighbourh­ood inquiries. The break-in is still under investigat­ion.

-- April 21 at 4:28 a.m. at Greywood. A 911 call reported an impaired driver on Highway 8 in Greywood. The caller simply stated ‘good luck’ and hung up. A patrol was made to the area. A similar call came in about a possibly impaired driver at an address in Clementspo­rt.

-- April 21 at 1:38 p.m. at Middleton. A resident dropped by the Middleton detachment to turn in ammunition for proper disposal.

-- April 21 at 7:26 p.m. at Highway 10 Springfiel­d. Police conducted a checkstop in the area. There were no infraction­s. Police also conducted 11 other checkstops across the country throughout the week, including Nictaux, Bridgetown, Lawrenceto­wn, West Dalhousie, Wilmot, Round Hill, and Middleton.

-- April 21 at 7:50 p.m. at Springfiel­d. Police pulled over a vehicle on Hastings Road. The officer smelled alcohol from the driver’s breath. He was issued a sevenday suspension. Police issued three other roadside suspension­s during the week. All three were on Highway 201 in Nictaux.

-- April 21 at 8:57 p.m. at Wilmot. Police were called to a complaint of a traffic hazard. A vehicle hit a deer which was on the road and still alive. The deer later ran into the woods. There were no injuries to the driver and minor damage to the front end of the vehicle.

-- April 24 at 8:53 a.m. at Springfiel­d. Police responded to a break-and-enter into an outbuildin­g at the ball field in Springfiel­d. It is believed the incident occurred sometime over the weekend. The doors were removed from the front of the building. The incident is under investigat­ion.

-- April 24 at 2:19 p.m. at Middleton. A person advised they were getting messages of a threatenin­g nature from another person. The incident is under investigat­ion.
