From Valley, with pride
Valley 4-H members eager to attend provincial gathering
Valley Region 4-H members met at Evangeline Middle School April 22 to determine representatives for the upcoming Provincial Weekend in Bible Hill.
Lilly Pilgrim from Hants County will present her junior speech entitled ‘A Loving Enemy. She will be introduced and thanked by Kings County members Vincent Armstrong and Shannon Fraser.
The intermediate speaker is Hants County member Jessica Carver with her speech ‘Actions or Words.’ Hants County senior Justin Jamieson will share ‘What 4-H Has Given Me.’
In the demonstration category, Karlee Saulnier of Kings County will advance with her demonstration ‘Goodies for Goats.’ Junior Team Demo winners were Emilee Hirtle and Jacob Hirtle from Kings County with ‘Tweets and Treats.’
Tyler Maceachern of Kings County will be presenting ‘Here Comes the Judge’ in the senior single demonstration category. Hants County members Brooke Hamilton and Brittani Hamilton were chosen to proceed to the provincial level with their senior team demo ‘T-shirt Extravaganza.’
The Valley region host and hostess representatives were also selected. The 2017 Valley region host is Logan Menzies and the hostess is Victoria Brydon, both from Kings County.
Each region is able to send entertainment to be part of 4-H Night in Nova Scotia. Border Riders 4-H Club of Hants County was chosen to represent the Valley with their creative portrayal of this year’s theme ‘Let the Clover Be Seen in 2017.’
If you plan to be in Bible Hill May 6, check out the 4-H activities at the Dalhousie Agricultural Campus. There will be woodsman competitions, speeches and demonstrations. In the evening the top members will entertain the audience with their public speaking skills and provincial awards will be presented.
